The Continued Journey with Quincy and His Recovery!
We wanted to take a moment to update everyone on the progress that Quincy has made over the past week! Wednesday, April 20 (first real day of therapy) started pretty good. Quincy was a bit let down; he didn't get to meet the first goal for OT and PT because his blood pressure “tanked”. Although, therapy continued while closely monitoring his blood pressure he was able to get some things accomplished.
The next day Quincy was able to complete all the task set for therapy!! YAY!!
Saturday and Sunday therapy was in full swing!! No biggie, he’s accustomed to 6 or 7 workdays a week.
Along with strenuous therapy comes some very sore muscles! Soreness is to be expected when you’ve had very little activity for 4 weeks. Each day brings more and more mental and physical strength. We remind Quincy the soreness will not last forever and it will soon pass. His appetite has been slightly improving. They are wanting him to focus on more protein to help his body recover from the trauma and build his muscles. The therapist, the doctor & all the staff here are very kind and good. Quincy’s success is extremely important to all who come in contact with him. We continue for each and every day to be fulfilled with progress as Quincy continues this journey to recovery.
Today (April 25) was the first time in 4 weeks he has been close to an upright position.
While on the pedal machine he says “this actually makes me feel like me”.
With the therapy becoming more intense each day it’s best for him to limit his visits. Please call or text before coming. During the day visit will be after 4:00pm. I have to remember 4 weeks ago today at 7:20 our lives became altered in a way we have never imagined.
We think the most special prayer (we might be biased) is Haynzli’s. She thanked God for keeping her daddy safe, thanked them (caretakers) for taking care of her daddy, thanked God for letting her daddy come home soon to her because she really, really missed him and loved him. We can’t think of a more touching love than a Quincy and Haynzli love!
One thing that we know is that we are all strong in our belief, trusting in God, and we are all pushing each and every day here to be the best we can all be! We have all taken our rodeo mindset and competitive mentality and using it in this circumstance to prevail victorious on this journey! Each day there has been steps of progress, and we will continue to take those steps each and every day with Quincy!
We are so unbelievably grateful and touched by the outpouring love and kindness shown for all of us.
This may not have been a journey we planned or wanted but be assured God will lead us! We will be our best example for our Lord!!
Please continue to pray for all of us.
It’s not IMPOSSIBLE because I’M POSSIBLE!!!! AMEN
